Click when starting car

Postby peteknok06 » Mon Mar 28, 2016 8:34 am

Lately, on occasion, when I try to start my pathfinder I get a click, not multiple ones, just one click per key turn. It will usually start after 5-10 tries, but sometimes will take much more. This happened with another vehicle of mine and I bought a new starter but it didn't help the problem. Any suggestions on what this could be?

It sounds like a bad starter. Make sure your battery connections are clean and tight first and it wouldn't hurt to have it tested. Next time it does it, try tapping it with a hammer and see if it starts. If it does, you'll probably need a new starter. I recommend genuine Nissan reman starters; they are pricier than the aftermarkets, but the quality if much better.
