Bringing up another old thread as I'll be doing this tonight :-D Except in addition to the seals pictured above (titled "door welts" in the parts catalog) I'm also doing the outer weather seals for both the front and rear doors.

A little pricier this way but I have some tears in the welts and small signs of wear in the outer seals. Plus it appears that the two must work together...

Can you do me a favor when you do this? Can you cut the old seal and post a picture of the cross section? And if you could also throw in the measurements for everything in that cross section, pretty please? I know there are a number of sources online that sell these seals in various lengths & I would like to see if there is possibly a beefier alternative out there we can use.

Such as it is...there's pieces of metal in the center channel that goes over the frame edge too. Not sure you'd find a generic fit anywhere, as the length has to be dead on. As for the outer weather seal, no way...it's specific to the door and a good fit.

Anyway, the noise "through the door" is greatly reduced with both sets of seals done. The door welt is definitely a tighter fit than the nine year old seal it replaced. I can't increase the wind noise by pushing on the top of the door frame anymore. There's still a fair amount of wind noise from the windshield between 60-80 but there's little to do about it.

Well, aside from the bead of silicon I just ran around it anyway :-D I can see where the previous owner put a little silicon in a couple places now, so this might be overdue.

Looking forward to getting the rear weather seals done as they seal the edge between the doors...

Thanks! As to the windshield & wind noise, I've never had it. This last replacement windshield was installed poorly & I did have the noise, but a quick call to the glass people & they came out and fixed it. No noise again. Wonder if it would be worth it for you to stop by a glass shop and have them remove & reinstall the windshield?

The silicon was just the trick for $4.99...I'm back to where the loudest noise is from the tires (including tires on the vehicle next door) followed by wind noise in the side windows themselves. I have new window seals coming next just to give it a shot.

Where exactly did you run the silicone? My windshield has been noisy since this last one was replaced. It probably just needs re-set but I just haven't messed with it. I did run electrical tap all around the seal once and didn't notice much of a difference. Couple of things I've done to cut down on noise:

Sometimes my hood gets to vibrating from the wind more than usual. I give the hood a little twist/tweak and that makes it stop (for awhile). The wind noise around the windshield decreased quite a bit after that. I'm not sure if it was buffeting air or what.

Also, I went around a while back and basically just "conditioned" and cleaned the seals with armor-all and also squeezed them/shaped them while I was doing this. It seemed to help quite a bit with the door wind noise. I assume it will eventually flatten the seals but for now it's better and that's a pretty easy/cheap fix. There are quite a few seals around the jam and door edge so be sure to hit them all.

What did you do to tweak the hood?? I have noticed from the beginning that my hood vibrates more than any vehicle I have owned. It worried me enough that I have checked it several times. My vibration is mainly in the center, across the hood. Not at the latch or hinge. It appears to be air pressure, not harmonics. It's almost as if the hood isn't stiff enough. All connections, latches, seals & hood struts are fine.

I even put a bug guard on it to see if it helps... No change at all. Very strange.

There are rubber bump stops at the hood leading edge. You can turn them in and out to adjust height and in cases of shudder make sure the hood is secure against the latch.

They get stiff over time, so I replace mine every few years. Same for the rear hatch stops.

I also added damping and sound insulation to my hood...it's primarily to control road noise but it reduces shudder as well.

I ran a very tiny bead of windshield specific sealing silicone all the way along the edge where the seal meets the glass. I also pressed the seal back to make sure the silicone flowed into the crack. I then ran the rounded corner of the package along the bead to press it into place (kind of like caulking a bathroom) to make it look neat. Way less wind noise now.

The seals on the truck are made to be flexible so even if they look tight they can still open when the body flexes on the highway. A new seal probably would've worked too but I could do this myself for cheap...

Mine tends to vibrate along the sides. Wind or trucks passing makes the hood look like jello. What I do is lift the hood and put a stiff arm right to the center edge of the hood. I then pull down on the far edges. This seems to put a natural curve back into the hood which lasted about a year last time. I just recently noticed the hood shaking again and did this again with success. Now the hood doesn't shake unless I'm doing 100 or something.

Do you mean the front or leading edge?

If so that's definitely better adjusted with the bump stops...

Yes, that's it.... Jello across the middle of hood from fender to fender, with the front and rear edges near the hinge and latch secure and not vibrating. As I say, as if the hood is not stiff enough.

I will try your forearm technique and let you know. Mine starts at about 60mph, and gets worse at my normal daily drive speed of 85mph on the highway. Acts as if air is escaping along the edge from air pressure built up inside the engine compartment.

No it's the sides of the hood, along the fender toward the hinge. Similar to what BigEz explained.

Much, much better. I tried a little brute strength as skinny2 suggested. I also adjusted the latch. I loosened the three 12mm bolts on the latch bracket in front of radiator and tapped it down. My latch moved about 1/8" down....tighten bolts. Much better on highway.

As for bumper stops. My 08 path has 3 all rubber stops attach on hood side. These don't appear adjustable... they just come off with a 1/4 turn. My 07 Frontier had steel adjustable bump stops with rubber tips, but not my Path.

Thanks for the tips...
