Fan Blowing at High & Death Radio Heat a/c Center Displa

Postby Rob J » Thu Nov 07, 2013 11:20 am

Hi, I'm kind of new on this site. Our 2010 Pathfinder SE 55,000 M;
1. Turn engine ON and Fan Blower runs at Highest setting and Can Not turn it Off/control it, and 2. Center Radio, A/c heat, rear camera, clock, etc display is completely blacked out, blank, can not see any of the functions working displaying.
I already check all fuses in cabin passenger side and engine compartment and everything seems good, not blown.
Please need help advice good guidance, where to start checking with this issue, it's our only means of transportation right now. We are able to use truck, but it's just very annoying noisy while driving with Fan at highest setting and also is winter cold too Brrr..:( Not working right now can't afford big repair bill, so I can spend a little time on it & since also I'm a little hands on, electronics hardware guy. Thanks in advance & any help is appreciated.

A bad blower amp is the likely cause of the heater fan running at high speed at all times.

Fan Blowing at High &Center death radio heat a/c center

Thanks! I appreciate your response.
As you mentioned & found through extensive google search at other nissan/path, "just answers" sites, etc, the famous Blower Amp to be the/likely cause. The actual name I think they label it as, the "VBC/Variable Blower Control/ller" for auto control and or "blower resistor" for older manual different Pathfinders models. It looks like I have "VBC" because of newer truck and auto climate control & center radio, heat/ ac/dc camera display . They also mentioned something interesting that not necessarily a bad VBC, but dirty clogged cabin filters can cause this issue of running high without control or when you can't shutt off.
If this help anyone here and my little grain of salt contribution to this site..:) : We need it to use truck so, had a quick way of fixing this annoying thing for 2nd time (this issue had actually happened and I fix ~ 8 months ago). Performed a via a "RESET" or "software reset" and this small procedure successfully light up obsoleted darkened Center Display & recover fan controls software , did this by simply unplugging removing for about 10-15 min Negative cable from battery. This my friends "resets" the electrical system/the software control display functions and brings back blower heat and a/c controls..:) lol
Anyway last Friday ran out &:
A. replaced older little weak battery with new one cause also read somewhere on this site that bad weak or corroded (white stuff) battery can cause all sorts of electrical problems, took advantage of battery swap & this took care of the negative cable reset by itself..:). Note On Older original (crappy battery I think, only 3 years old..)Battery did found a lots of white corrosion solid powdery stuff on & around Positive Connector that goes to + battery post. Cleaned it & coated with this dark red anti-corrosion grease. So wonder if this corrosion may have also something to do with the Fan & display issue, acting up weird?
B. Replace cabin filters(2) that I indeed found almost completely clogged with black dirt and pine needles and "a few death bugs" lol they guy and girl at Napa saw older filters & were..":-O OMG!". I had previously never change those filter before.

Question sms999smj (my little electronics background kicking in..:)):
1. How come center control display goes completely black when this high fan/blower Amp problem occurs/ed (2 times already), are they related??
2. Are Center Display and Amp Blower wired circuit together underneath dash, behind center console..?? :) By the way I think found Location of blower Amp/"VBC" right under by fan area, it's a white plug connector with 3-4 cables, right above passenger feet area.
3. So still wonder, sort of not 100% clear; how this dirty clogged cabin filters can cause blower Amp or “VBC” to go bad or malfunction?? If indeed causes this..?? At end Did not replace blower Amp, cause simply it seems to be working for now, when after I performed negative “reset” . I did notice Blower Amp it is on the path of cabin filter air/fresh air path….
4. Over heard some Japanese cars Tech Mechanic, mentioned it could be the infamous “software”, but he was not 100% sure. What do you think? That’s why when I perform negative post reset everything came back to normal, especially center display software. & if it is software related, I’m stuck with this, no fix..?? Annoying “new” complicated “computer” technology crap…:-/

So for now the negative reset, new battery (Oh by the way with new battery; Pathy seems so much stronger powerful at start up and driving..! :)) & cabin filter replacement seems to have done the trick fixed it for now. I was just wondering if you or anyone else here, have better solution/s now that you know more details.
Just hopping it does not happen again cause, at that time, as you suggested smj999smj, I may have to change that little expensive blower Amp, “VBC”, if you think it is still the solution/applies..

Thanks!

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having similar issues. I found this after I posted my question.

Had a similar thing happen yesterday....2012 Silver edition Bose non-nav

Started engine and everything was dead on the center console...AC, reverse camera, radio etc.

Restarted and no change.

I knew I was really low on gas (gas light on gauge lit-up)...but no longer had the 'distance to empty' display. Filled up the tank and suddenly everything works again. Unrelated coincidence....probably. Concerned it's going to happen again....definitely.
