I found with both of my R50s and my Titan that accelerating hard at first then allowing the trucks to upshift all the way got better fuel economy. If you are grannying your gas you spend too much time in the lower gears getting lower gas mileage.

Agreed. I'm pretty sure it is even recommended to drive that way according to the owner's manual for my 2000 SE

My 2003 SE 4x4 was rated 15 mpg City and 19 mpg highway, and 2wd 16 and 21 mpg.

So I get 14 or 15 around town and 18 +- on the highway.
Yes I can get 19 or 19.5 if i keep speed down under favorable conditions, but with speed limits going up that's rare now, 80 mph limit on last out of town trip !!!

The drag coefficient on this thing is .45 and frontal area is high !!!
