Help! What's missing below my rear climate control dials?

Postby adaco » Sat Mar 09, 2013 6:40 pm

On my 2008 Pathy, immediately below the two rear climate control dials, there is a large open space where something is clearly missing. What is it that should be filling that large space?
Thanks

It's a fold-down double cup-holder.

Thanks, Skinny2. I don't go in the back very often and thought somebody might have scooped an electrical component or something similar, and couldn't think what it might have been.

It's a pretty weak design...mine has been kicked out a couple times by the kids bumping it when sliding around. It just pops back in though...but I can see it getting lost or someone getting tired of it.

Nissan released a TSB on it. SHows where to check for damage, replacement part #, etc.

I just got my Pathfinder last week and it had a broken cup holder too. I made a deal with the dealer that I wanted them to fix it if I bought it. I am still waiting on them to get the parts. Hopefully they will apply the TSB fixes.

[UPDATE] So after a few weeks of going back and forth with the dealer (not a Nissan dealer) I finally got my cup holder assembly and the glass hatch shocks they promised me. The delay had to do with the fact the manager was being told the wrong information- he was told that it was going to be expensive to replace and they were looking for aftermarket parts (I believe they were being told a part of the console had to be replaced). I thought that was odd, so I visited the Nissan dealer up the road from my work and spoke to their parts guy. He immediately knew what I needed, around how much it would cost and how easy the assembly was to remove and replace. I got the part number and called the manager and gave him the info. He was confused but appreciated the info. I went there yesterday to get the parts and the first thing I did was pull the new cup holder assembly out of the box and slapped it in place! He was surprised at how easy it was!

I could have given up and bought the parts myself and been done with this, but I sure do feel better now that my PF feels "complete" with nothing broken, and that the dealer honored their promise, which is the most important to me.

I'm not sure what they paid specifically, but I believe if you search for part no. 96965N (HOLDER ASSY-CUP (REAR) I have found prices range from about $56 to $70 (not including shipping at some sites). Some of the sites allow you to type in your VIN so as to get the exact interior color. Don't be afraid to ask at the local dealer as I was surprised that the price they were asking was pretty fair and within the amounts I was seeing online.

Thanks,. now I need to find the transmission valve body.
I have seen them on ebay for 750, but I don't like the idea of them getting the correct one. I think there are 3 maybe 4 different valve bodies

I replaced my rear cup holder a couple years ago for about $90.
