K&N performance kit air intake

Postby DrBeavis » Fri Jul 22, 2011 10:59 pm

has anyone tried this on their Pathy? and what is the difference between original (http://www.amazon.com/63-6014-Air-Charg ... 626&sr=8-1) and Gen2 (http://www.amazon.com/57-6014-Fuel-Inje ... 679&sr=1-2) ? there is no explanation on the vendor site regarding the difference.

thanks!

Since the general consensus is to reduce restrictive filters, what I did was drill some ½” holes in the plastic filter box instead and continue using a standard filter. Seems to increase “under the hood” noise a slight amount when you git on it, but at least the box can suck in more air than before.

Not sure exactly what the difference is between the two. However according to the Knfilters.com website, the 57-6014 is for the 05-07 Pathfinder/Frontier/Xterra. the 63-6014 is for the 08-11 Pathfinder/Frontier/Xterra. I know in 08 the front end did have some minor changes so it could be adjusted for the front changes that occured. I have a K&N CAI on my 99 Jeep and love it. It was the first mod I did after I bought it 4 years ago.

Haven't looked @ K&N products for a while, but they had 2 initial kits for Pathfinders. Looking @ the specs of both kits, one looked like for mainly highway/freeway use, the other for city use.

Depending on the year, there will be two different kits, for V6 vs V8.

Hey found, just purchased a k&n filter panel. I was concern about dirt as I noticed my oil got darker quicker with an intake kit. Thus I got the panel to reduce dirt. Should I worry still about dirt? Most of my friends say that is what the oil is for.

read this article. . .cotton gauze and foam filters suck at filtering dirt from the air.

I see. Good thing I kept the stock filter. However, I'm going to try it for some miles and then reconsider. I know there is a diferrence between new and washed K&N.
