My problems

Postby Bakerboy » Wed Jul 29, 2009 12:53 pm

Other then my afforementioned shift knob being stuck, these are my other problems I've run into and the common ones for the truck.

-Most common is the front stablizer bar bushings and stabilizer links front and rear. They simply wear out, and you will hear a banging noise over bumps.
-Exhaust rots out. I live in Ontario, Canada where they dump salt on the road for winter, pretty much cancer pills for your vehicle. The Nissans are very common to rust out.
-Volume control stopped working on radio, in full blast. Fixed my taking the radio apart, face plate off, volume knob out and disassembled, bent contacts closer together, ..fixed.
-EVAP vent soleniod, causes engine to come on. No emergency, still haven't fixed it.

WORST PROBLEM.
- the driverside front inner fender (where the top of the strut bolts to) rotted out and separated from the frame, while driving. It raised up 4 inches before it got stopped by the steering rod luckily. This made me learn how to weld. Whole inner fender had to be replaced ($400 CDN), outer fender replaced due to rot as well ($200 aftermarket plus paint $150), drivers frame had to be re-boxed in due to a foot ball sized hole in it ($20 for material), and then extra paints, primers, and seals ($50). So $800 for a repair that another shop would do for $2500 cash, don't know how much an actually accredited repair facility would have asked for.

So check your inner fenders behind the strut for bubbling, and get the stupid things oil coated. Similar thing happened with toyota tacomas where they were all recalled a few years ago and given book value to the owners, even if it didn't run. Checked if nissan would do the same thing, but the get away with it because if you read you owners manuals, it says to pop out the small plugs in the frame and wash out the frame . B***S***. You think anyone on here will actually do that. And thats my rant, cheers.
