The Pf is in the shop.

Postby Captain » Mon Jul 27, 2009 4:23 pm

Over the weekend I did some hiway driving from Chicago to Dekalb, Il. I noticed that when I turned the wheel ( at any speed from 5-65mph ) I would hear a click or a clunk noise coming from the drivers side front. It sounded like it was from the steering shaft. I could not tell if it's inside the PF or under the hood. I think its from the U-joint on the steering shaft from the R/P steering gear to the firewall. ( The u-joint that has a 60deg angle on it. ) I think its binding up and when its free-ed up it pops. It only happends when the steering wheel is coming back to center on the 10 or 2 o'clock posistions.
I also having them do a oil change and a tire rotation along with changing out the rear hatch seal. The seal was starting to split. They gave me a rental for the time being. Its a 2008 Xterra XE. Its a nice change from my 04 X. I would be happy driving this around till my PF out of the shop.

I had to drive my father-in-laws Fourtwo convertible around about 300mi when I was dealing with my superchips issue in my PF. I'm 6'2" 280lb, and although I can say I fit in it, I am thoroughly smart-carred out. Its not a great driving car, but it does cost only $12 to fill and you go like 300mi on that.

After that I was stuck with his 97 caravan. Horrible.

Very glad to have my truck back!

Wow I need to update this. Thanks.

What they found (???) was the drivers seat slide clicking after they took the entire dash apart. they orderd a new seat mount and put it all back together with the original seat and the clicking went away. I never had them put the new seat on. I think it was coming from the steering and when they put it back together they must of fixed it by accident.
