Stereo Problem - Not getting any sound

Postby abomb1 » Fri Jul 31, 2009 12:51 pm

This has happened to me a few times lately. My stereo is on, I can change stations, receive the RDS feed, switch to CD, but I get no sound, no feedback, nothing out of the speakers. I can turn the volume all the way up and still nothing. This usually goes on for a couple days, then all of the sudden they start working again. I have the Bose system in mine, and am guessing there is an amplifier that is powering all the speakers somewhere. Is it possible I have a loose ground somewhere? Any ideas are greatly appreciated!!!

if you've got an 08 model with the screen then theres a self test that you can do to see if your speakers are getting any power..if not i'd be looking at the amp..

well i know 05 to 07 bose system's use a clarion head unit, and they weren't very good a lot of them broke, im on my third one. just take it into the dealer and they will swap it with a re furb one, or you could just replace it with an after market one.

I'm not under warranty any more, so I think I'm better off finding an aftermarket one if that's what it is.

Does anyone know if the amplifier is built into the stereo or if its somewhere else in the vehicle? I want to make sure its not that before replacing the stereo.

Have a peek under the driver's seat.

I thought that's where it was, but someone else told me that was the ECU. Thanks.

yes, its on the passenger side right in front of the firewall beside the big fuse block under the hood.
