Quaker State vs. Mobil1

Postby HillbillyJake » Thu Jan 08, 2009 9:10 pm

I am looking to put a synthetic oil in my truck but cant decide on which to use. I am looking to use either Quaker State's Q torque power or Mobil1's truck & suv. right now i am leaning towards the Q torque power but I was wondering who uses what and any opinion's on which is better. any input would be appreciated. thanks.

I can only say I have used only Mobil 1 for years and without a problem. Nothing really to compare it too. Back in the old street racing days (A body Mopar small block) I stuck with Kendall GT-40 straight 40 weight...and never had a problem. Alwasy liked that beautiful dark green color.

High priced oil is nice to use but I can not afford the good stuff. + I all ways use Valvoline 5W30. with great outcome. I ran this in all of my cars and after 3k miles I look at the oil and its still clean. I try Quaker State and Penzoil, and found that its gives hard starts when cold and at 3k the oil looks like black grease. Mobile 1 Great stuff but way too $$$$$ for me at 6$/Qt

I have to agree with Captain caveman but in my case I feel Castrol does the job for me. A couple of month ago I changed to Quaker and I felt the PF had a hard time starting out cold. However my altima had Castrol and it has not giving problems. I guess it falls into what you feel more comfortable with.

At work lots of divers/owner like to use Lucas oil additives such as this
http://www.lucasoil.com/products/displa ... Stabilizer
I've tried it and I like it, I also use there gas treatment. When I had a sticky injector on my lifted Zr2 I used this 3 times and it cleaned up the poppet valve and got ride of the misfire.

I went with Mobile 1 and a Nissan filter. I have done 2 oil changes so far and could not be happier.

Mobil 1
there is a reason some things are more expensive. And when it comes to my car I will not settle for anything less than the best.

while yes mobil 1 is a very good oil. it is not the best IMO, royal purple and amsoil are the top of the line oils but the best affordable one is mobil 1 hands down. thats what i use now since the others are 8.00 quart

Oil Change Schedules...

Postby sbs0518 » Mon Jan 18, 2010 8:50 am

Hi all,

I was under the impression that Synthetics were supposed to last longer than non-synthetic oils and thus reduce the number of oil changes. Is that not the case? How often are you changing oil compared to when using non-synthetic?
