75k on brakes?!?

Postby AZRoushStang » Sat Oct 10, 2009 9:53 pm

So the my 05 Path is reaching 75k this week (also the end of the extended warranty).

What really surprises me about the car at this point is that I still have on the ORIGINAL brakes. And it's not like they are getting really worn yet either. I probably still have 50% of the pad left (maybe more).

I even have slightly heavier than stock tires on there (about 7lbs/tire).

Anyone else seen ridiculous mileage on their pads?

You must do a lot of highway miles or are very easy on your brakes. I'm at 27K and they don't have much life left on them, but most of my driving is stop and go traffic

I do! 90,000 miles  and still going on original stock pads. There's probably a 1/4 pad life left and more likely I will hit 100K miles before the will require replacemnet. Highway driving is why the have lasted so long. :D

I checked mine a couple of weeks ago at 60k, figure I still have another 20k before I need to check again. I'm really easy on the brakes and do mostly a combination of city/highway.

Did change/bleed my brake fluid though, it was looking pretty dark. Something you might want to consider even though the pads don't need it.

I had warped rotors up front and worn out pads on all corners at 30K. I think it largely depends on driving style/conditions. But 75-90K on original pads is impressive. I do a lot of highway, but still never go that kind of lifespan out of my pads on any cars I have own. I should get some lighter shoes...
