Non-BOSE auxilliary in/ipod query

Postby Confiteor » Sun Nov 01, 2009 3:07 am

Hello

I have a 2005 R51 with the non-BOSE audio system. I have the 6-CD changer with navigation.

I'm wondering if it is possible to connect my iphone to the audio unit in any way? I don't need to be able to control the iphone via the head unit controls. I just want to send audio into the system, so I can listen to spotify/podcasts etc on the road. I want to avoid using an FM transmitter as they never work well.

I removed the audio unit to see what spare ports there might be on the back.

I was hoping for a simple RCA auxiliiary in. But the only spare port was a shape I haven't seen before.

I have added an image of the back of the head unit (see below).

Does anyone know what this empty port is?

Or any other advice on getting auxilliary audio into this non-BOSE stereo would be great.

Thanks

Can't see the image, but what you are looking to do should be possible. MY old MAxima's BOSE HU had a spare plug in the back and i was able to solder on some wires and make an AUX input. I want the same thing for my NAvi unit in my 06 , but have not found out how to do it, was thinking maybe the rear AV button.

It can be done,
www.factoryipod.com

it will integrate completely with the factory head unit.
