OBD Fault Code P2118

Postby Halloween-Man » Tue Dec 01, 2009 5:20 pm

Hey Guys,
Has anyone come across this code - P2118 ? (2007 Pathfinder 2.5L Diesel)
I have looked it up and it says "Throttle Actuator Control Motor Current Range / Performance".

What does this mean ? My warranty is up pretty soon so any advice on what to say to main dealer would be appreciated !

Many Thanks

If it's under warranty, just go in with that code right away, or start by calling them and offering that info.

I agree. If it's still under warranty, all you have to say is "FIX MY TRUCK!"

I agree with all the posts here, just be prepared for the standard "lets reset the code and see if it comes back" response. Frustrating because usually they won't even look at it unless this code is a known issue.

On my 98 honda, I had a couple CELs (check engine lights) and the standard response was to "tighten the gas cap" and see if it would go away on its own. Never worked.

Do some research on the code, and be prepared to push the dealer into fixing the issue, especially since you are close to warranty end. Hopefully you won't have to push, and they will do the right thing.

Thanks for the responses - brought Pathy to Nissan Main Dealer -
They said that an earth connection was corroded and they fixed this. (and deleted the fault code)
I tried pushing for a new throttle under warranty but they would not give in.

It it possible for a corroded earth connection to cause this error code?
How would you go about testing the throttle body to ensure that it will not give up after the warranty expires ? - I dont want to end up with a huge bill !

Thanks ...

Very possible. Had this happen on other vehicles, but not sure on the path.
