there is no actual block heater for the Pathy, that I know of. there are a variety of oil pan heaters that are available though. I just got mine installed and it works like a charm.

Your in ND, no?

There is definitely a dealer supplier engine block heater. I have one! along with every other car and truck in this frozen wasteland.... :)

Yeah I went to the dealer today , there is actually a block heater available for our Paths , 130$ CDN + 2 hours of labord aproximatly so give or take 350$ + tx CDN ... And it is warming up the coolant , not the oil ...

I ll check for a oil pan heater , should very less expensive , and thus more efficient...

Heating coolant is far better practice.

Shop around, a smaller shop may not charge $100/hr for labour.

I have a magnetic oil pan heater from princess auto, it doesn't do anything.

Go to the phillips and temro website to find a cheaper source for the heater.

I'm almost positive they make universal inline coolant heaters that you just install in the middle of one of the coolant hoses...

So there's no frost plugs in out blocks? That's where you install the block heater to heat the coolant. Nearly any generic block heater will work (just verify).

It keeps them from freezing to the glass or cowl. Helps out alot in those ice storms we got here the last couple years. If their stuck good enough you can tear the rubber blade part right off....I've had some practice at it

If you wrap them in newspaper that works great!
Putting newspaper on your windshield it an awesome way to keep snow and ice away also

Triff, I was driving up I77 when this hit, just south of the WV border. Pure havoc on the highways!! They shut it down twice while I was on it, which meant complete stop, sit and wait. A trip from FL to Snowshoe, WV that should have taken me 11 hours, turned into a 30 hour adventure.

The Pathfinder was AMAZING!! She saved me from 1 wreak with an out of control Neon doing 360's down the highway (has to swerve into the grass/snow at 40mph and around the pile-up), and was able to pull me down through and back up a 40 foot wide median strip, covered in 2 feet of snow (that hardly anyone else was able to make it across) to get off a closed gridlocked I77 @ 9PM at night.

After going through all that, any thoughts of trading the Pathy in for a Disco or JK are out the window. She's not going anywhere for a while.

Hopefully I'll be able to post some pics soon.

PS. While I now live in FL, I'm from Maine so I know what winter storms can lay down. This was still one of the worst dumpings I've seen in a long time.

UPDATE: Here is a picture up on Snowshoe mountain the day we arrived:

Here are some other shots of the trip.

Other cars that had been in the lot for a few hours

This is actually the interstate!!! (I-26) After sleeping through the night on the highway at the WV border, we drove for another 6 hours in this.

Just a few of the hundreds of casualties along the way. In spots, there were cars slid off the road and jack-knived 18-wheelers for as far as you could see.
