93 Pathfinder high rpm while driving

Postby Gounr » Sat Apr 03, 2010 9:15 pm

Hi, I've got a 93 pathfinder, transmission went up and got it rebuilt. Now while driving, it shifts fine but 50 mph runs engine about 2800 rpm and like 60 mph is about 3300 rpm. After I saw this problem, i took it back to the shop and I was told it was ok. I feel otherwise. Need Help :( Thanks

I have a 95 xe and it runs similar rpm's. I think it's around 3000rpm's at 65mph. I have tires that are bigger than stock and thought that might be it. I wish I could answer your queastion but as it turns out, I am looking for the answer as well.

That's the way the gearing is on these buckets of crap. My summer ride is an 86 Grand Prix with a 355 vortec and a 5 speed standard with a 3:08 posi. It revs 2000 at 75 and I get better fuel mileage than with the gutless pathfinder that I bought for the winter. It's the last time I buy any jap junk.

Sounds like its not in over drive(if auto) or you have a slipping clutch.with 4.63 gears in back it should be running 25-2600 rpm at 60,70 is 3000.If you have a stick it maybe diffrent,as mine is an auto.
