TPMS Battery Replacement

Postby Budrbean » Tue Apr 27, 2010 7:30 pm

I searched around and couldnt find anything on this (maybe didnt use right search terms). Just bought a 2007 Pathfinder with 56K miles. It needs some new rubber. I plan to buy them in the next week or so. What I am wondering is would it be a good idea to replace the batteries to my TPMS sensors while the tires are off? If so, how hard is this to do and what kind of battery? Any info greatly appreciated.

What is typical battery life, and would it make sense to buy new TPMS units and replace during a tire change?

I'm finding prices of about $66 a sensor though, so that's a lot of $ on the chance of it going. Hopefully they're powered to last a while.

save your $. It takes nothing to change them later if something comes up. If you replace them now, Murphy's law says your tire guy will crush one.

I wouldnt worry about them 'til they go. I am on my 3rd set of tires, 2nd set of wheels, with over 110K on my '05... the TPMSensors are original.
