Pathfinders in the shop

Postby Captain » Wed Apr 28, 2010 8:11 am

I droped it off this morning for the recall about he fuel tank sending unit. The unit went out on Sat after I filled up but the guage read 1/2 tank for about 3 hrs then went to full. since its been 200 miles since I filled it up the guage stuck at 3/4 full till yesterday when I droped to 1/4 in 5 min. Im also having them repair the bad tail gate pistons since they failed this winter.
I also am having them check out about replacing the crapy plastic rears panels and floor since Nissan plastic sucks. I also have a small clunk on the drivers side front wheel well that sounds like a body bolt loose and a full service oil change. Till then I have a 2010 F150 quad cab 4x4 that they gave to me as a rental.
I think I found my next pickup but before I do Im going to look at the Titan.

I had the same "clunking" noise on my 05 when it had about 15k on it. Nissan ended up replacing the LT front body mount right under the "A" pillar.

Now I have a suspension clunk up front (I'm at 62k) that I'm hopong goes away when I install my new Bilsteins.

I did the fuel sending unit at 42k.

I had my '06 LE in Monday for the sender replacement. I did have it replaced at about 32k when I ran out of gas. According to my dealer parts guy, this one is an upgraded unit.
Dropped it off in the morning & picked up that evening. Now I'm running the tank to empty to see if the low fuel light works. It didn't on the last sender.

I think you nailed it on the head when you said it was the body mount. Mine mad an awfull noise usually going over a speed bumper or something similar. Once replaced I never had the problem again.

Just remembered that when I first took the car in for the noise they replaced the steering gear. As I was driving out of the dealership it still made the clunking noise. Just thought that was funny. A pretty expensive mis-diagnosis. It was under warranty so at least it didn't cost me anything.

So I had the fuel tank sender replaced Monday & ran out of gas today. The guage showed 1/4 & nav showed 46 miles to empty. Fortunatly I had a can with 2 gal. in the car.
So I called my dealer & they told me that it make take up to 1 week for the system to reset. Sounds like B. S. to me.

I had a Sentra before my Pathy and they replaced a wheel bearing to get rid of a clunk, which turned out to be a loose lug nut. Warranty. Awesome.
