Is there a deductible on the Nissan Gold?
Looks like $50. Of course you can take that to zero by paying an extra amount, which looks like it is based on a percentage of the total plan price. If I'm going to do it, it will have to be this weekend. I'll let you know all the details if I decide to go for it.

I opted not to get an extended warranty. I might still price some of the used car warranties Nissan offers. As to warrantydirect.com, I hate 'em. You have to give them your contact info just to get a quote emailed. Since I didn't know they had prices through the roof, I obliged. Every single day now, I have had at least 1 message on my phone from them. Anyone, or any company, that is that damned pushy with their sales tactics will never get any of my business.

Well, f*** me. When I dropped off my PF for the 30k transmission service, my check engine light was also on (it came on a few days before while in Death Valley). Seems it is a problem with the vent control valve, aka VCV. They supposedly have new parts for this which include a filter. I don't know if an extended warranty would have covered this, but I seem to have this type of luck without fail.

I bought my 05 new and purchased the 72 month/75k mile warranty for around $1200.

I currently have about 61k miles on it.

I've used the extented warranty for:
1. fuel sending unit @ 42k
2. IPDM @ 44K
3. A/C line that blew @ 46K

(I had a cat go bad at 50k but it was covered under the emissions warranty)

I'd say it has paid for itself.

I'm actually interested in finding out if I can extend it so I can have the warranty for few more years.

 Any idea how much the repairs run?

The dealership doesn't give you the prices of the repairs but I would probably guess by reading some of the threads on here that at minimum the warranty had paid for itself.

It ended up being around $500. I can replace/fix a lot of things, but I just don't have the room to jack mine up to remove the gas tank & do all of the fun underbody stuff. Oh well, it's fixed. This is from the work order:

CKL: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON NO DRIVEABILITY CONCERNS
Installed 14935-JF00A :VALVE ASSY - CO
Installed 14953-ZP80C :FILTER-CANISTER
FOUND CODE P0448 VENT CONTROL VALVE.FOUND VALVE FULL OF DIRT.REPLACED VALVE AND INSTALLED FILTER KIT.CLEARED CODE.LIGHT IS OFF

Full of dirt? I hope this doesn't happen every single time I drive through mud. To top it all off, as I was exiting the PF after getting home, I noticed a bunch of scratches running pretty much the entire length of the vehicle. I won't stop driving off road, so if it gets any worse I'll just have them apply that black bedliner stuff along the bottom 1/4 or so from front to rear.

Just purchased an '08 SE 4x4 w/ 40K miles from CarMax. Added their warranty 4 years 48K miles for $1350. Paid with a credit card. Original owner purchased an extended warranty, but when I called the dealer which originally sold the Pathfinder, they said they wouldn't transfer it unless I could find him and have him sign over the warranty, and provide maintenance records. Not likely to happen.

'05 XE - 55,000 miles - Bought it in '08with 39,000 on it and got a 100k, 84 month warranty for about $1000.

Fuel Sending unit at 45K - a few hundred at least
Sway bar linkage at 50K - $100-$200?
New transmission and radiator from the dreaded failure at 55K, about $4000.

Warranty worth it? You bet your ass it is!!!!
