Towed with a bypassed tranny cooler.....Good results

Postby gilldawg79 » Sun May 23, 2010 6:25 pm

This weekend I towed my travel trailer 250 miles one way to Destin and back. Trailer loaded, car loaded, no issues. Pathy actually did better than I thought it would. I got 10 MPG, and averaged about 50 MPH. From where I live in West, central Alabama to Destin is almost all 2 lane, so the speed limit is 55 just about the entire way. I was able to keep it there and around 2000 -2500 rpm's and maintain 55 mph. It was about 92 degrees today as well so, I feel like I really put through a good test.

Just thought you guys would like to know what could be done after a bypass. Mine is just going through the external cooler with no fans and no other coolers. I still may put another one on, but it will just be a radiant cooling one. I don't want to do any mountainous towing with it, but I am still impressed with it. Seemed real torquey for a 6 cylinder.

HTH.

There is a tranny high temp alarm light in the display...Does it work, I don't know, but it didn't light up.
