Tranny downshifts when applying brakes

Postby trailblaze » Fri Jun 25, 2010 4:49 am

i've noticed my 08 PF down shifts when i'm on the brakes. i could understand this if i was going down a huge hill, but it does it on the slightest grade and even if i'm just slightly applying the brakes.

is this normal? never had a vehicle that down shifted so quickly once the brakes are used.

There was a topic about this a little while ago, http://www.thenissanpath.com/viewtopic.php?t=3375

It is normal for the Pathfinder to do this as engine braking is programmed as part of the grade logic into the transmission. When towing this is helpful to keep speeds down when going down a hill. Other manufactures tow/haul buttons preform the same way when going down a incline with limited braking applied.
