Tongue Weight 2007 PF

Postby justjimmy » Sun Aug 19, 2007 5:42 pm

I'm looking at getting a 2007 PF.

I have a 2007 Fleetwood Element E3 Popup camper that has a gear deck in the front. The camper - with an unloaded gear deck has a tongue weight of 400 pounds. The maximum gear deck load is 600 pounds. If I do the math right, if I load the deck to the max (probably won't) I can expect the truck's tongue to hold 1,000 pounds. I know that's excessive.

With that said, does anyone know what the Pathfinder's max tongue weight is? And, what I have to do to increase that if it exceeds.

Thanks

Thanks. The wife and I are excited to pick it up. She currently has a 2001 Explorer Sport we'll be using until I get the Pathfinder later this year.

First trip is planned for Labor Day Weekend!!

I don't think you should have a problem. One of the guys in the Xterra clubs has a trailer that may have a similar weight that you are wanting to compare. Basically , you should totally be fine, for what you are trying to get. Plus the PF tow weight is 6000lbs. You should have no worries.

If you check the owers manual, page 9-19 shows the towing limits, 6000lbs towed and 600 on the hitch. Nissan says make sure %10-15 of the trailer weight is on the hitch, but IMHO that's BS, I normally do %5-10 and the trailer still tracks straight and true.
