Stereo installation

Postby chris07007 » Mon Aug 02, 2010 11:51 am

Hey I live in Littleton, CO and just bought a new stereo. Was looking for a place to get it installed that can do it well. Also at a decent price. I've only been to Ultimate Electronics and they are charging me $150 as a base price then $20 for some wires and $15 for a double din mounting kit. I thought the $150 was a little outrageous, it is a video deck but they charge $50 for a regular deck and $150 for video so I thought that was ridiculous. Any help would be great, thanks.

Check with Best Buy. Being a National chain, at least you have good warranty coverage for the install. Check if they will do installs of car audio you bought somewhere else, I have never used them.
Have you ever installed car stereos of your ow? I have done quite a few with different vehicles. I found the Pathy pretty easy to handle. I did buy my stereo from SonicElectronics.com and got the install kit and wiring harness to go with it though. It really makes it easy.

It's actually really simple to swap stereos in. the price they are quoting you is insane. Stereo shops in SC are around 40 bucks for install, 15 for harness and double din kit. Incidentally what stereo did you buy for yours? If you don't fancy trying it on your own, Best Buy is a pretty decent bet. When I bought my Pathfinder, it took about 30 minutes to swap in my Pioneer double Din Nav. If you do a quick search of Crutchfield, they even give you the step by step on how to do it yourself. Really the parts are about 15 to 20 bucks. A good way for you to save yourself some cash, and learn a little more about the truck. YMMV.
