06 gas filling issue

Postby samcarpen » Sun Aug 22, 2010 8:04 pm

I JUST bought a 2006 Pathfinder with 26,000 miles. My first time fueling it, the gas nozzle clicked off after about 30 seconds. It continued to do this until the nozzle was almost completely out of the opening! I could NOT fill the tank! I managed to get 3/4 of a tank, but it was a chore. Probably clicked off 15 times or so. What is the problem?

My guess would be the gas pump. Try a different one next time and report back. Good luck and welcome

Nope. It happened at both gas stations. And a slight correction: it happens after 5-10 seconds of pumping--not 30.

might have a blockage in the fill pipe. a buddy of mine had the same problem with his chevy impala, turns out that some chick poured sugar in his tank and clogged the neck..
