I just had the dealer replace my timing chain tensioner and the noise (supercharger) is gone. Also it seems like my gas mileage has increases by 20-50 miles per tank. It cost me though i have 84000 and the dealer charged me 850.00 to do the job. I dont know if the chain tensioner had anything to do with the MPG but i am happy now that the sound is gone.

Hey Citcope, how long did it take? and did you see how they did it, like under the hood or had to lift the truck on the hoist to work on it?

Thanks

The auto tensioner for the drive belt does have a visual marker on it to show the limit for when the belt has stretched too far for the tensioner to keep proper tension on the drive belt...

I'm confused. Are you all talking about the secondary timing chain tensioner or the accessory drive belt tensioner?

Thanks for clarifying. I think there's a bit of discussion on both in this thread.

So got the sound looked at last week and luckly was not the tensioner :)
Was the heat shield being loose and rubbing the exhaust between 1800-2000rpms. So just got the heat shield replaced, cost $50 for everything so was alright.
