Disabling DRL for HID's

Postby Rogue9 » Sun Oct 03, 2010 9:04 pm

Does anyone know if it's possible to disable our DRL/auto headlight system?
I want to put in HID's and on my old car the DRL relay would kill the ballasts so had to be disabled.
Since it's 1 bulb I'm assuming this will happen with the PF too.

Yea I did what Tech did. Plus the Hi/Low give u the ability to have lights when your HIDs go.

what are the chances of the halogen filament burning out and leaving me with only the HID? (If I'm reading right it's 2 filaments in 1 bulb? I never knew there even was a HID low halogen hi bulb.)
I know with the silverstars I had in my Grand Am, it was like clockwork, the DRL circut would kill the higbeam filament in 6 months.
and I liked being able to drive blacked out for those times u gotta be invisible. =)

If the halogen burns out, it doesnt affect the HID at all or vice versa. Your local cops will like you better if you keep it legal...I can get you setup with contacts in your area for parts and/or install if you like. PM me.

If you decide on Bi-Xenon (not recommended), make sure you go true digital ballast, or the series voltage from DTRLs will freak out the ballast and kill them (like you had before). If you want DTRL HIDs, you can do that too. (via a different method)

Projectors are in the mail. How hard was intall? Any wiring needed or just plug and play? Does the bumper need to come off to get the housings in?

If you're ok with the halogen bulbs they come with then they just plug into the factory harness. Some people are converting them to HID and that has to be set up a little different. The bumper cover and grille and fender liners do have to come off to get to the headlamp bolts. You will want to get new clips for them.

I was curious about these lights. Do you have any pics at night? on the open road and the cutoff on a wall of some sort? I was gonna get these and swap in a better projector.

The Angel eyes are kick ass but they go to quickly, like max 2 yrs. If longer all the power to you! Even the ccfl led rings go fast. But got to pay to look stylish :)

I just added "audi style" lights gona post pics of it later. Looks awesome with the HIDs from headlight and fogs.

Hey Kami did relocate your licence plate higher for the bull bar? I just put on an aries one and I'm pretty sure sooner or later a cop's gonna give me grief for covering the lower 1/2 or 1/3 of the plate. I mean looking down from standing height u can see it, but from infront farther away it's pretty much blocked....
