Help with Catalytic Converters?

Postby scrooks » Thu Feb 17, 2011 11:37 am

Just bought a 2007 with 73K. I've gone through it (New radiator, all fluids)except for the Cat's. Not getting any codes yet but was considering changing them to avoid any issues. It's a California car first off and I have the following questions. How many cats are there? I've heard both 2 and 4. If it's 4, do all 4 need to be replaced or just the front 2? I'm moving to Washington State soon and will be able to get the NON California versions once I'm there. Will this cause any issues since it was an original CA car? Are the Ebay cats any good? How about the "Eastern" brand? Thanks for the help...

Replace them when one of the code pop up then replace both of them.

I think there is an extended warranty on them too so you may be wasting money needlessly at this point.

I'm from WA and you'll be fine driving the CA car in WA. However I wouldn't change the Cats until they go bad. No point in replacing parts without them going bad, unless you are upgrading the parts. Just my 2 cents.
