Need diagnostic help 05

Postby Pathfinder101 » Thu Feb 17, 2011 10:01 pm

Just picked up an 05 last week . I have noticed when i start it even when cold (midwest) the engine fan comes on. Is this due to a faulty temp sensor ? If so where is this located. It is very loud with acceleration kind sounds like its in 4wd but its not. Other than this i love the truck. Plan on doing tranny cooler bypass this weekend.

Since he says it's loud with acceleration, it seems like he's talking about the fan clutch on the mechanical fan being locked up, instead of it being the electric fan.

Thanks for the replies

I have checked with AC on & off. defrost heat it stays the same from previous knowledge the engine needs to warm up then the temp sensor turns on the cooling fan.

Im leaning towards 08datsuns theory or atleast something to do with the cooling fan malfunctioning. I guess i will have to bite the bullet and bring it to a shop. Just hate to pay $100 + for diagnostic.

You shouldnt be paying anything for a diagnostic!!!! Here as long as I use my garage to do the repairs they are happy to look at the vehicle. Plus since I go to the same shop often they allow me to bring my own parts if I choose to since with internet buying its often way cheaper.
