what is the factory lbs for the shocks?
I installed the 225 and feel its too heavy or hard to close.
like to get a lighter one, perhaps one that is closer to stock, or one up.
would anyone like to buy my pair of 225?

I just ordered some 200lbs since they should be a little stronger than stock. I've had the liftgate hit me in the back of the neck and shoulders one too many times. I'll provide an update once installed.

I had the 225 ones and they were too heavy. Switched to the ~ 205 ones from mcmaster Carr and they are perfect. Had them about a year now.

My 225# struts are still working out quite well after 1 year. Very glad I swapped these in instead of OEM struts. Now I just need to find something a bit more powerful to replace the struts used for the glass hatch.

Openspaces: Which part number did you select? I too am intrested in the 200lbs lifts.

Also interested in the 200# liftgate struts.

The 2008 SE I bought just last week had weak lift shocks on it also. I was surprised they were already weak....Also, my SE had no latch assist, it just slams shut, maybe it's optional on SE and standard on LE...IDK

I trashed my receipt but I'm almost certain they are part #9416K148 for the 200lb. units. I just installed mine and it looks like I got a bum one/two because my hatch now barely stays open at all.

I'll just get a couple more. They're cheap and easy to swap.

Unless I read something incorrectly, these 200lb have the same specs as the 225lb. Link below.

I just installed 200 lb struts last night (9416K148). I wouldn't go any bigger than the 200 lb struts. I'm sure I will get used to moving out of the way of the hatch quickly when I open it....which is ten times better than getting hit in the head all winter long. I also had to move some stuff out of the way so I can pull into my garage farther. The McMaster struts have more travel (than the worn-out ones), so my hatch would hit one of the garage door brackets when I open it w/ the garage door closed.

Were they a direct fit or did you have to make them fit?

pretty easy to install. 8 bolts total and your done. You remove the special ends/brackets from the old struts by unscrewing them & installing them on the new struts. They were only hand-tight.You need something to prop up hatch during the changeover

Thanks for the info I just ordered mine. The little extra travel distance will be a big relief on my head.
