2003 Nissan Pathfinder Won't Start

Postby johnny_boy » Tue Aug 21, 2012 8:34 pm

My 2003 Pathfinder has been faithful for 140K miles, until recently.
Now it decided not to start.

I scanned for OBD codes and there are none.

The security led is blinking when the key is off. When I try and start the car, the security led turns off.

If I spray starting fluid into the air filter, the car will run for about 10 seconds before dying.

When I pinch the fuel line after having the ignition key turned on, I feel no pulsation.

The fuel pump fuse is good.

When I check the voltage at the fuel pump relay (key is in "on" position.). I get 12v on pin 3 and nothing on pin 1. The shop manual indicates I should be getting 12v on pin 1. The wires are black/yellow for pins 1 and 3.

I don't know why pin 1 reads 0 volts?

Can someone help me?

Thank you in advance!

try swapping relays and see if a different problem occurs...then you will know if the relay is bad

The problem was fixed after pulling out the relay and putting everthing back together. I hope the problem does not come back on a long road trip.

Thank you!

I would suggest getting a new relay, if old one failed or stuck it will happen again.
