HELP - 2004 Pathfinder VQ35DE Valve Lifter Replacement

Postby chnam333 » Thu Jan 17, 2013 9:31 am

I'm going to replace Valve lifters at RH side. I got stuck after removing inner manifold collector.
Could anyone help me out ? What will be the next to remove ? I removed all the bolts of valve cover, but can't take it out.
Thanks.

Do realize that the VQ engine uses solid lifters and the time to replace just one bank is 16.7 hours, book time? I've never see lifters fail in a VQ engine; may I ask why you are replacing them? The first step would be to measure the clearance to see if you even need to replace any. If any are out of spec, you need to figure out which size lifter you will need (there are a lot of them) to get your clearance into spec. Then, since the lifters are shimless, the camshaft will have to be removed to replace those lifters in need of replacement. It's a big job, so make sure you know what is all involved before attempting this!
