Newish accessory belt just started chirping

Postby DanJetta » Tue Jan 07, 2014 5:25 pm

I burped my radiator and spilled coolant on my accessory belt. Ever since, it's been chirping and squealing when it gets cold or humid. I changed it this summer with one from Advance Auto.

Did I ruin it with the coolant or did is this one of those shoulda-gotten-a-Nissan-belt things? Or both?

Coolant isn't good for belts but it usually washes right off with water. As far as belts, I prefer genuine Nissan or Bando brand (they are an OEM supplier of belts to Nissan). A bad pulley bearing could also cause a chirp or squeak noise.

Mine did this for a couple days after I burped it. I did flush the area with some water right afterwards though.
