Any suggestions?

Postby Wanda » Tue Apr 15, 2014 11:48 am

MY 05 pathfinder died while driving it. Took it to two different dealers and they can't find a problem. The engine still runs but the instrument panel goes blank and I can't accelerate. When you turn car off and back on it will work until you put it into drive and start to go then everything does off and the only lights on the panel that come on are 4WD, Brake, and battery light. Engine still runs and so does the radio. Any Ideas?

Sounds like a bad cluster or CAN communication issue. One would need to access CAN codes with a capable scantool. Any Nissan dealer "should" be able to fix this. They have access to technical support from the manufacurer via Nissan's Tech Hotline and in worse cases, can send a Nissan service rep. I would place a call to Nissan customer service hotline for assistance: 1-800-NISSAN-1

I'm just kinda tossing ideas out here. But if that year was throttle by wire (not sure when they introduced that) and the cluster is dead.. they could be sharing the same source for a refrence signal/power.. When you say the cluster goes dead, do you loose ALL of the cluster? (volts, odometer, fuel level, etc....) I dont have access to the wiring diagrams right now so I cant see what powers what and where but its something to look at..
