New guy from Texas 2010 LE

Postby 1342gitfiddles » Fri Aug 15, 2014 9:25 am

Hey all, this forum is great! Alan from Texas here, found this on accident trying to find pics of some mods i want to do. I've owned my 2010 LE pathy since new. Getting close to 70k miles, and its time for new tires. I've always loved the interior of this car, but hated the 18" wheels. I actually tried to get the dealer to swap out an SE five spoke, but no dice. I'd love some bigger tires and wider wheels to make this thing look more like a man ride and less like a soccer mom mobile! Don't think i can convince the wife of new tires AND wheels at the same time, so after browsing this site, here's what i'd like to do-
Paint the stock 18s black (flat or satin)
Install wheel spacers (need help on how far to go)
Take off the step runners and maybe mud guards
Paint grill black

And later on-
2" lift (need recommendation)
Roof rack
Bull bar (possibly)

Any help with this project would be awesome, many thanks in advance!

My main question is, 265 60 18, Or 275 60 18 ?

Will 275s work without a lift? If so, i'd rather have them so when i go to 2" lift the won't look too small

Also, can't figure out how to post pic but i promise i have one![/img]

Welcome.

I think the largest size determined size you can fit under stock suspension with very slight rubbing is 285/65/18.

I personally went with 275/65/18. I had slight issue with rubbing after install but post alighnment correction, rubbing is gone.

I would recommend this size over your two choices. Especially, if you're looking to lift down the road.

Thanks, thats where i am leaning. Did you go with wheel spacers? I can't seem to find a consensus on here as to the best option in brannds and what sizes are popular, all i see is "don't go cheap". I don't want them to stick out real far, just closer to flush. My original thought was also the fronts don't look like they need as much as the rear, so maybe a half inch difference.

I went with 275/65/18. I had considered 285/65/18. I wish I had went with 275/70/18's. Maybe I'll run those for winter after I get the Rancho Quick left
