Who Makes Nissans Waterpumps?

Postby Path-Less » Wed Feb 11, 2015 1:52 pm

I am just curious if anyone knows who manufactures the nissans waterpumps. Maybe you've seen a logo or branding on it.

I know hitachi makes quite a few parts for Nissan, I just wasn't sure if this was the case with their waterpumps.

I am going to replace my serpentine belt and clutch fan soon and I figure while I am in there I'll do the Waterpump and thermostat. If hitachi does make the Waterpump it's a $30 part at Rockauto vs. $120 at the dealer.

Thanks

Hitachi and Aisin both make the OEM water pumps for Nissan. I used a Hitachi pump when I replaced the timing chains on my 08 SE. One thing about the Hitachi pump is that it didn't come with the seals; I got them from Felpro.

When is the recommended timing chain replacement period?

There is no recommended replacement interval for the timing chains. However, some 05-10 models due develop problems with the upper timing chains cutting into the tensioner faces. Nissan updated the parts, but there's not reason to do it unless it's making noise, which is a whining noise that sounds similar to a P/S pump going bad, IMO.

I'm wondering if there is a recomended mileage to replace the water pump. I don't seem to read any posts in regards to this. Anyone had premature failures? what would this job cost at the stealership? I am at 210,000 miles and going strong but this worries me now.
