A Lot of 05's For Sale

Postby dlillo » Wed Feb 11, 2015 5:50 am

We are looking and there seem to be a lot of '05 Pathfinders for sale. Is that normal for all vehicles at 10 years or are the '05 Pathfinders in particular starting to fall apart? Most of them have between 110-145,000 miles so I would assume they still have some life in them. (other than the radiator problem)

155k miles on mine, and its still kicking butt. I have a few rust spots on the tail gate, and the rear wheel well. Other than that, its actually in pretty good shape and I'm not looking to get rid of it any time soon.

Just make sure you get good value for it, the older a car is the harder it is to figure out how much its actually worth...

If you look around you can find some great deals my friend picked up an "08" Pathy with 105,000 miles in great shape for $4,500.00 the guy just wanted to sell it. We both went through it and it's perfect new tires brakes and complete service history on oil changes. I am trying to talk my friend into doing the radiator by-pass now but some auto tek told him it was only the first two years that are affected but I insist he is wrong. We will see how this all pans out in a few months. By the way his 4.0 V6 runs fantastic and is quieter then my 2012. Look around you can get some great deals on some nice used Pathys right now.

Wow, 4500? I can't hope to match that.

Everything we are seeing within 100 miles is '05-'08 for $9K-15K. But I am not really looking at private sales. Those deals are probably better.

I've heard of them failing on every year of the 2005-2010 range. If he thinks it only affects the first couple of years, ask him why Nissan put the radiator warranty extension up to 2010 models?

$4,500 is a complete anomaly and something weird had to be at play. I was offered $9,000 trade for mine (with 130k miles) on a below invoice deal awhile back, so reasonable private party is around $10k.

Personally I just sold mine due to age, not because there was anything wrong with it. At ~10 years I trade in for something with 3-5 years on it, but I do this because I feel that after 10 years, you have a higher chance for repairs.
