PF engine pinging

Postby Gray » Thu Oct 09, 2008 1:25 am

I haven`t had any engine pinging issues with this PF yet but have read of several others having the problem and was wondering if some on the forum have experienced PF pinging problems and what seemed to eleminate that.

running 87 octane co-op gas here in winnipeg. I find the pinging comes and goes, which to me indicates a fuel issue, not a truck issue.

Winter fuel pings less. (or so i've noticed so far.)

I've never heard any pinging in the Pathie. On previous cars, the only time I heard pinging was when I had pedal to metal, usually going up steep grades.

I had the PF ping a bit for the first time last weekend. It was up a slow, twisty and steep road, six of us inside and is was a bit warm outside. I had the window open so it may have been easier to hear. It may have been a tank of bad gas, but I went ahead and put in some 91(had been using 87).
