Looking to buy a used Pathfinder..

Postby [email protected] » Thu Mar 10, 2016 1:50 pm

Hi Everyone!

Looking to buy a used Pathfinder. Which years should I avoid? Seems like I should stick with the 2011-2012? The 2013+ kinda sucks IMO. What about 2009-2010?

Thanks!

2011-2012 should be the most problem-free. They finally got all of the bugs worked out of them by then. 2005-2007 are usually the most troublesome, but now that they are ten years old, most of the typical problems have probably been taken care of already. Be mindful that 2005 through 2010 have had problems with fuel pump senders, timing chain "whine" due to the upper timing chains cutting through the plastic tensioner "feet," and radiators with integral trans cooler failures on the original radiators that can cause damage to the transmission. There are lots of articles on this forum regarding most of the typical problems.

I had my fuel pump sensor replaced on my 2008 V8
Also, TPMS sensors will start failing on older models since the battery is good for 7 or 8 years. I replaced mine recently.

Other than that, it has been a solid truck.
