Some dash buttons not working

Postby AZ_Path » Fri Jul 31, 2015 11:12 pm

A few of the dash buttons just stopped working. I disconnected the battery hoping a reset would fix it, but no luck. Any ideas where to start? The area in red does not work. Everything else does.

Was you battery unhooked at all? When my battery was unhooked with my 06 Toyota 4Runner there were several buttons and truck functions that would not work. After driving for around 20+ miles everything worked again. I'm not saying this is the solution but it's possible?

No, it happened before the battery was disconnected.

It is more humid here right now. Not sure how much that could be effecting things.

Google isn't turning up any results. Any suggestions on where to start?

I think you'll end up having to pull out the unit and send it out for repair, personally. You could try removing it, unplug all of the connectors and plug them back in to see if it'll get them working again. There are a number of independent companies that can make such repairs, as well as having Bose Corp. repair the unit.

Thanks smj. I'll check the service manual for removal instructions.

I finally got around to fixing this issue. I found a local scrap yard that was selling parts off a wrecked 2010. I had to buy the whole center stack because they wouldn't sell it separately. For $150 I got the 6 disk changer and all the buttons and knobs so not too bad. This video showed me how to remove cluster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0XIUi8Ne54

I ended up just swapping out the HVAC and radio/settings buttons because they had different ribbon connectors than my '08. Everything is working now. :D
