Obstructed lift gate latch

Postby clpendl » Mon Aug 01, 2016 8:47 am

2010 Pathfinder
I had a small rope between the latch when I closed my rear lift gate and now it is jammed closed. The rope will not budge when pulled on from either direction. My dash indicates the door is open. When I try to open the lift gate I can hear the electronic lock working, but it won't open and looking from the inside, the latch doesn't seem to be moving. If I remove the panel is there a reset or manual way to get the latch to release?

This was a real ding-dong move on my part and I'd rather not take my car to the shop and have to pay for my stupidity. Any suggestion appreciated. Thank you!

Try pushing the hatch door closed as you unlock

There is a manual lever that should release the latch. If you look from the interior near the bottom of the door you will see a small plastic cover that you can remove with your finger. Inside there is a metal lever that you can press that should allow you to open the door while holding the lever down. I'd guess the owners manual describes this.
