Nissan coolant pH

Postby Gray » Thu Oct 30, 2008 2:17 pm

When I had a fluid analysis done on the PF antifreeze coolant a couple of months ago the pH was reading 7.3 which seemed a bit low but was said to be still good by the lab which did the analysis. I bought some ph strips at a local auto store and checking the coolant the pH still reads over 7 but I was wondering if others use coolant pH strips and if a 7.5 - 8 pH number is normal for Nissan coolant. Might have to buy a jug of new Nissan coolant, mix it to 50% with distilled water and see what the pH of that reads to see where this stuff starts at.

Here's a fairly good blog on using 'water wetter' type additives in a coolant system;
