Intake concerns

Postby Jime » Wed Feb 22, 2017 9:24 am

So in the process of replacing the valve covers, I noticed oil in the intake plenum and in the intake itself. Is this something to be concerned about? As far as potential engine failure in the future. Is there a way to clean it safely?

I appreciate any advice.

It's nothing to be concerned about and perfectly normal. It's not going to cause engine failure. You can use induction system cleaner to spray down the intake through the throttle body, if you want, but make sure the key if off and try not to soak down the throttle body too much. You'll may need to floor the gas pedal when you try to start it the first time, like starting a flooded engine. If you think the amount is excessive, service the PCV valve.
