I'm sure I'm missing something, but why get the joint connector rather than just re-route the hoses as shown here:

Thanks, Tech!
ya that's what i thought

Word is Nissan might be extending the warranty on our radiators due to all the complaints they have been seeing... Heard this from a Nissan Service Manager... No known time when this will come in to effect.

good for you guys. i highly doubt we'll see that happen though. despite that, it won't matter in my case. i bought my path w/ 96k miles AS-IS at the dealer about 10k miles ago

edit: i read somewhere among the 30 different Nissan forums around that it's starting to becomeA LOT more common once our vehicles are hitting the 5-6year mark

Just picked up a 2007 with 73K. After much reading on this forum I decided to replace the radiator with an aftermarket unit from "koyo". Great quality unit!! Took approx 2 hours to do the install myself. Did a full flush with 13 quarts of Valvoline Maxlife Dex/Merc. No signes of contamination with coolant. Phew!! :D Runs great and shifts are super smooth. I paid $210 for the radiator direct from Koyo. Be careful about units that claim to be Koyo and are priced around $130-150. These are usually not Koyo even though they may be packed in a Koyo logo box. Lifetime guarantee on the new radiator to boot...

What does the guarantee include? Any consequential damages? (ie transmissions)?

The warranty is only for the radiator. No consequential damages. I talked at length with the guy from KOYO and he was well aware of the Calsonic issues. I was very torn myself as to which way to go, "by pass or replace". after talking with him I just decided to go for replacement. I'm praying that this Koyo unit is as good as they say... I did a side by side comparison of both units out of the vehicle and the only major difference was the color of the metal "outlets" on the tranny cooler section. Koyo = brass color. Calsonic = shiny silver color. Not sure what this means but I thought is was in interesting that was the only difference between the two...

THE easiest diagram to use for the bypass.

My advice, for what its worth, is to complete the bypass over replace the radiator. Leave NO CHANCE for contamination. The radiator is a dumb design on part of Nissan. Why would anyone design something where a 120 dollar radiator replacement can destroy a 5-7k transmission???

If you are dead set on having the extra cooling ability because you tow, go to amazon, buy a 50 dollar aft cooler and bolt it on.

You then get the extra cooling plus ABSOLUTLY NO CHANCE of your radiator destroying your transmission.

For what its also worth, we have had several days in the teens here in PA and i have not have a single issue with a bad shift due to NOT having the transmission atf warmed up so I do not believe for a second the route through the radiator has anything to do with warming the tranny fluid.

I'm going to tackle this tomorrow after my kids soccer game. My PF is a 06 with 72,000. I checked the tranny fluid and it looked great for now. I've only had it 2 weeks! Good info on the board here thanks guys.

I used the tee connector because I installed the temp sensor sender there. Otherwise no need for it

Nice thread.

Here are my questions:

1) I have an 08 with the V8. Is this still the same problem? Same radiator as the V6?

2) I have the certified Pre-owned and would this modification of bypassing the radiator void my warranty?
