I got the letter as well, and I'm in south Florida where I purchased the truck. If they'd cover it here they should cover it anywhere, and I'd push back on any dealer that said it wasn't.

Got the letter over the weekend. Not a lot of salt in Southeast Texas, but good to have the warranty protection as a backup.

Got the letter too last week. However mine said that Nissan was extending the warranty from 60 months/ 60k miles to 120 months/ 120k miles since I lived in a dessert...ok it did not say that but it mention that if the air bag light come one I should take it in and it would be covered.

samples were taken and sent in. Nissan determined who got replacements. There should be NO shop supplies charged out. Recalls should be 0% customer cost. I've done many, and the only part involved in the sensor. It even comes with nuts. FYI - I don't "offically" get one on my own vehicle.

I'm IN Canada. I'm not sure about all regions, but after evaluation, my region got the recall approved. My personal vehicle is from the US, and at the time I last checked, was still not approved, though my vehicle operates in the same region as the ones that were approved. Go figure.

Extended warranty is it's own thing. Has nothing to do with recalls which are put out by Nissan to correct safety concerns. Be patient, i figure everyone will get one soon. You can always give your dealer the VIN and see if a recall applies to you. If it does fail before then, your airbag light will illuminate, and will likey be covered by warranty. Depending who you got your warranty from though, you may be able to get $ back at the end of the term if you haven't used it.

I can't say for sure, because i don't work for sales, but i don't think that one has the money back at the end deal. But in any case, if the part fails, you'll be covered. I think the part right now is worth about $25 USD. Parts are always cheap when recalls are happening.

my local dealer (North Dakota) said that they can't even look at it for 2.5 weeks and that even then they will just do an inspection and that, "i haven't had to replace any of them yet... we just check 'em."

meanwhile i drive about 180-300 miles per day or about 1200 miles per week for work on nothing more than snow/salt covered roads/highways.

WTF
2.5 weeks? They only have one tech?
No, they pretty much suck at life. I can't wait to move to Fargo and actually get to deal with a dealership that is interested in customer care and retention.

I have had enough horrible experiences with these guys that I actually wrote a letter to Nissan corporate about them.

Needless to say, now they want to best friends... lol

Anyway, they did get the part and put it in free of charge. The whole thing took over an hour.

Does anyone know the location of this sensor? Would it require doing anything to my front drivers side fender to get to it?

if you look at the front of your rad condensor, through the opening in your front grill, just over your license plate, it's right in front of you, basically the only sensor there. Yellow connector, black metal shield over the grey-metal sensor. 2 10mm head bolts holding it. connector might be a bitch if you live in a salty/dirty environment.

OK, thanks. I had it replaced late last week and just noticed today that I have a puncture in my drivers side fender. Not sure how else it could have gotten there since I park in my own garage at home and a ramp at work by the same person all the time. I just called the dealer and they don't know anything about it. I can bring it there for them to take a look, but not until Thursday when their manager is back at work.
