Dealer tech sheared off coil bolt

Short version of the story: I'm on vacation 750 miles from home, engine develops a misfire on cylinder 1. I Take the car to the local Nissan dealership and have the #1, 3, & 5 coils replaced (since they are under the intake manifold - with the 2 OEM Nissan coils they had in stock and 1 Napa coil...

I'm not sure about a consensus, but the 1/2" VHB is working for me so far, but I probably bought it in 2011 and didn't get around to sticking the plastic covers back on until earlier this year, almost 5 years later. Ask me again after a full Winter ;-) I'd be a little concerned Gorilla Glue wou...

TNhunter - where did you lube? Could you see the switch with the interior cover off the hatch? TIA

Rear hatch light switch issue

Has anyone run into an issue where the rear interior light doesn't (usually) light up when opening the hatch? Mine is working fine when I open the hatch glass by itself, but rarely when I open the entire liftgate. It seems to be getting worse with age - now at 10.5 years and 167k miles. Is there a m...

I just verified with Nissan USA that my front crash zone sensor was replaced under recall in 2009. I guess the "improved" part didn't improve too much. Actually, the corroded sensor behind my grill now looks like the originals I'm seeing online, and fairly different than the part currently...

DIY Airbag crash sensor replacement?

Has anyone done it? Apart from the horribly rusted nuts holding my horribly corroded sensor to the mildly rusted bracket, it looks pretty easy. I'm getting the #6 code on the airbag diagnostics. I know this was a recall item, but mine was allegedly done already. I may be better off doing it myself a...

For those of you who have had intermittent headlights...

For those of you who have had intermittent headlights, did dielectric grease fix the issue? My '06 at 153k miles has an intermittent passenger-side headlight. A light touch to the wiring harness behind the light made it turn back on. I pulled the bulb, cleaned the contacts on it a bit, plugged it ba...

Bose amp sudden death

My Bose amp (28060-EA500) seems to have cashed in its chips. I started the Pathfinder yesterday after work and had no audio. Here is what I know: amp is getting +12v at the harness amp ground tests OK with multimeter, also no corrosion, etc. on connectors or the amp bracket all 4 channels from head ...

Still no answer on the brake thing, but the mechanic did find a severely worn front ball joint and a bad rear bearing. His thought was that the braking issues were probably largely due to the ball joint. I'd call the braking shimmy/shake/vibration marginally better, but not great, so I'll probably r...

As a follow-up: I get very few automatic car washes - usually just a few in the winter to get NE Ohio salt and road grime off the truck. I'm pretty convinced to go mid-grade (hardness) on the rotors, and thank all of you for the suggestions and experience. The truck is scheduled in for the suspensio...

No suspension mods. No dangling calipers that I know of, but I've only had a mechanic replace brakes on this truck. Brake lines look fine. Fluid was replaced at 45 and 90k. No issues thus far with sticking calipers, it is a 4x4 and wheels spun pretty freely at my last rotation. Pad wear has been a l...

Silver Bullet for warped rotors?

I'm done with my third set of front brakes. My rotors are so warped that I can't stand it anymore. Factory originals: warped by 38k miles, replaced at 56k Napa replacement rotors: warped by 80k, replaced at 106k Mechanic's recommendation (they look like Power Slot): warped by 115k Since the last set...

Same thing happened on my first filter change. It was a little cold, but still shouldn't have snapped off. I was able to secure it with a zip-tie which was easily snipped off for a subsequent change.

My '06 had the fuel sender replaced at 40k-ish miles, and again at about 105k miles for the recall. The first 2 were flaky, the last one has been abysmal. Driving down a 9% grade or taking a corner can make the gauge drop from 50%+ to completely empty in probably a minute, complete with flashing lig...
