Re: Swapping is easy

Swapping is easy. Not sure about 45 mins...but not more than 2 hours wheels up/wheels down. I've done the swap twice this year mine and a buddy's R50 to go from open/4.363 to LSD/4.636 (with higher-torque LSDs). If you just buy a used 3rd member, it just bolts right in. I paid about $140 from local...

Good to know! Any tips or things I need to know before attempting? Thank you! :)

Swap it if it's cheaper, I would think it would be. Can you do the swap yourself? That would save $$$. That's what I was thinking. I should be able to do it. It's always nice to have s reference though haha. The only upside to the rebuild is they warranty it for the life of the ownership (apparentl...

Differential noises

So my rear differential had been making a wobbling noise for about 300 miles or so. It's a heavy wobbling/grinding noise. I brought it to a transmission shop that I was referred to and they recommended a rear diff rebuild at $1500. This is out of my price range haha. I found a matching axel to swap ...

97 R50 intro

Just wanted to introduce myself... Just started actually using the forum (been signed up for a while). This is my second Pathy. The first one is a 98, gave it to my brother for college. I missed it so much I got another one! Love going on road trips. Based in San Diego but will go anywhere. http://i...

No codes, engine kicking/riding rough

So I really don't know how to explain this but I have a 97 Pathy 4x4 Manual... When I am coasting in any gear... as the RPMs start to decline, the pathy will jump a little bit. No real increase in RPM it just acts as if it hit a forcefield or something haha. Just kind of kicks a little bit. Has anyo...

Had a similar issue last month. I could hear a clicking from the engine. Turned out to be a bad coil that was arching to the distributor body. Took the dist. apart and could see burn marks in there. Thanks for the reply! I also have a 98 R50 auto, if the parts are interchangeable I will try to swap...

Thanks for that input! I heard one other discussion mention the distributer so I might try replacing that. I have a 98 R50 Auto so if it is interchangeable, at least I can see if thats the problem.

Intermittent Stalling

97 Pathy, 4x4 5 spd manual The pathfinder stalls every 1-4 miles. Even while idling, it stalled after 9 minutes. It cuts out completely and I still cannot smog it due to this issue. Every time it stalls it seems to reset something because the smog station keeps saying the car is not ready. It passed...

Yeah I'm just getting a flashing air bag light. Nothing else. I'll check that next and then go through all the sensors etc. thanks for all the great info. Hopefully I can get this fixed soon so it can pass smog.

Frequent stalling & Computer?

I have a 97 pathfinder and jus recently it started to randomly stall while driving. My research so far points to the MAf but I was also wondering if it could be a problem with the computer? When I start the car, the only light on the dash is the airbag light. This seems weird to me but then again I'...
