Thanks for the clarification. I see what you were getting at. As I mentioned, gas savings were not my primary concern but rather a side benefit. And yes, the Pathys are hard on gas but small improvements here and there never hurt. In my case, although my trailer is not heavy (2,275 lbs dry) I like h...

Yes, I'm aware that the front driveshaft is always turning, whether being driven by power from the transfer case or by the front wheels . That is why there is little or no mileage difference between 4 WD and 2 WD use. I can see usefulness in leaving the system in "Auto" mode in the winter ...

Wish to do the same with my 01 4x4 SE...... can we really improve MPG? According to what I've read on this and several other forums, there can be an improvement of anywhere from 1 to 3 mpg (U.S. gallons - City / Highway) according to the majority of people who spoke about it. Adding locking hubs to...

Locking hubs

Hi all, I've searched through several forums and a service manual for the answer to this question and I wondered if anyone here could confirm the answer for me. I would like to install manual locking hubs on my 2004 Pathfinder Chinook edition (Canada only model- basically an SE with some LE features...

2004 tow package questions

Is there any way to tell if a used 2004 Pathfinder has the factory tow package installed? Does anyone know what the package included? Our local dealer is of no help on this.

Thanks,
Andy

Thanks ...

for the info. I knew that the '05 to '12 Pathys had more of a plug and play set up but an '04 was what I could find. I got a flat 4 pin t-connector set up from Tow Ready and will then get a 7 pin adapter kit. I tried installing the harness tonight but ran into a minor problem - my Pathy has the Bose...

Trailer tow harness

Hi all. I've searched the forum but can't find a definite answer to this. I need to install a 7 pin trailer harness on our (New to us) '04 Pathfinder and I was wondering if anyone here has done it. I know there is a 4 pin harness kit available from Nissan but I need the 7 pin to use with a travel tr...

Back with a Pathy

Hi all! Picked up our 2004 Pathfinder Chinook a few weeks ago. It only has 86,000 km on it (about 54,000 mi. for our U.S. friends) and is in fantastic shape. It's not replacing anything as we will be using it as a tow vehicle for a small travel trailer this summer. We used to have a 1989 Pathfinder ...
