DMV = Dept. of Motor Vehicles. Whatever gov't authority is responsible for registering, titling, vehicle records, emissions, etc. FSM = Factory Service Manual. The official Nissan service guide that Nissan dealerships use for all maintenance and repair work. NICO ( http://www.nicoclub.com/nissan-ser...

Haha, yeah I was definitely expecting something more exotic. So, based on some research, I think the VIN is valid. I don't think it gives any indication of manufacturing date, though I'm really surprised this just isn't on a label somewhere on the firewall or door jamb. Is there a Chilean equivalent...

Delayed reply, sorry.

It's just a piece of rubber. I bought OE at one point a couple years ago, but if I had known about the Febest, I would've just bought those and pocket the $40 savings.

More info, please...

1. What do you think the truck is? It reads like a 2004 R50 from Chile, but that's clearly not exotic enough to import. 2. Does it resemble the WD21 Pathfinder, R50 Pathfinder, or R20 Terrano II? In some countries, the WD21 still existed for several years while everywhere else was getting R50s. 3. D...

Possibly. I'm sure there's some degree of sensitivity. Though, in my case, the Maxima canister appears to be identical to the Frontier/Pathfinder in many regards. I won't have to change anything about the hoses if the specs it lists are correct, so it's worth chancing. But, a leak is a leak. A seale...

Haha, I wish it was as easy as they make it sound in the bulletin to do any of those service items and clean out the lines. No way the recommended 1PSI through the service port would've fixed my problem. On my Frontier, I rigged up both compressed air and a shop vac to draw out what I could...wasn't...

No problem on the info. According to the FSM, P0440 is a rather broad code for a small leak. I've thrown that on my 1998 Frontier before...the solution was a new gas cap. This is also the cheapest and easy fix attempt, so I recommend that first, then clearing the code (a Stant cap worked for me). Be...

How did you determine that is the part you need? Do you have a diagnostic code? Reason for asking is because 22365-AM60A (superseded by 22365-1TV1B) is for newer Nissan and Infiniti models, but not a 97 Pathfinder. Instead, p/n 25085-1W207 is for Pathfinders made from 07/96-07/97, and p/n 25085-9E02...

Probably late response, but yes, the springs have to be removed to replace them.

But $300 is a rip off, regardless if that's CAN or USD. OE ones (p/n 55240-0W010) are about ~$50/ea from some online dealers, and aftermarket ones by Febest (p/n ND-020) are available on Amazon.com for <$30 USD each.

edit: engine mount? I don't think so as it doesn't get worse with acceleration, it's most audible when I am not hitting the gas. Sorry, I misinterpreted the thumping with a single event (or repetitive single event, if that makes more sense) rather than something more constant. In that case, wheel b...

But why a new thread? Are we still discussing the same grinding issue? When you say "first time", are you new to 4wd in general, or just new to the 4wd system in the Pathfinder? I applaud wanting to learn in either case. Keeping in mind what I mentioned on the other thread, there should be...

The ATP light illuminates when the transfer case is not in gear (i.e., in neutral) and the transmission is in park. It's to let you know that your vehicle can roll because it's not really parked; it's a safety indicator. Are you positive that you're attempting to shift the transfer lever out of 4H w...

I have some restored faith in your mechanic, then. Of course, keep in mind, too, that any shop is going to want to provide the most sound and comprehensive solution. This means using "quality" parts and possibly an "over-solution" so that they don't wind up redoing any work, eith...

I imagine any mechanic with fresh meat (the truck, not you ) in his garage would give an assessment like that if you didn't know specifically what to look for. When I hear something about replacing all the catyltic converters as a probable resolution for an engine code, I hope he gave you hell...
