I would recommend getting the whole control arm, if the bushings or ball joint is indeed the problem. I would also get some new bolts from Nissan as there's a good chance the old ones could be seized to the bushing sleeve and will need to be cut out. That said, before buying any parts, try this: po...

front upper control arm bushing noise

The front of the truck is making noise again. This time it sounds like a metal on metal creeking noise that happens over bumps and during braking (i.e. nose dive). After rocking the track back and forth when parked, I determined the noise (as well as two other mechanics) to come from the front upper...

replacing instrument cluster - new cluster missing 4wd light

I bought a used instrument cluster from ebay to change my cluster from kmh to mph.

The new cluster is missing the 4WD status light indicator which shows which drive mode the vehicle is in, within the tachometer.

Will this affect functionality?

Top off the coolant and purge the air out of the system. Make sure you didn't mix up the coolant reservoir and radiator caps; the reservoir cap will have a spring on it and the radiator cap will not. Thanks. Used 1/2 gallon of Peak premix 50/50 coolant and topped up the rad and reservoir and the he...

I replaced the fan clutch this past weekend with an OEM unit, and the truck is extremely quiet now. One of the nuts attaching the fan clutch to the pulley was stripped, so I had to go to a mechanic to have him take off that one bolt. However my heat isn't working. I removed the radiator top hose to ...

I replaced the fan clutch this past weekend with an OEM unit, and the truck is extremely quiet now. However my heat isn't working. I removed the radiator top hose to wiggle out the upper rad shroud, and in the process spilled some rad fluid. Is it possible I either introduced air in the system, or I...

Very informative post; thank you. How much fluid is needed for the front diff, rear diff, transfer case / transmission for a drain and fill? Also because my 2010 uses the laser iridium, aren't those safe to run until 120k vs the laser platinum which is good up until 105k ? Or should I replace at 105...

Maintenance at 92k? Spark Plugs? What else?

I have 92k miles on my 2010 4.0L LE 4WD. What should I be looking at doing to help fuel economy and keep up with reliability? I am thinking: - spark plugs; is there a preferred model to go with? - transmission fluid - differential fluid? - PCV valve? - clean throttle body? - change coolant? Anything...

front wheel bearing replacement

Is the front wheel bearing replacement a simple job, which entails simply bolting on and off for a 2010 4WD LE? Or does it need to be pressed in and out? I have play in the right front wheel along the vertical axis which I suspect is the wheel bearing. Also I was going to purchase a WJB bearing from...

So how can do you tell if too loud and fun clutch needs replaced? In Queens NYC there are a ton of these R51 pathfinders for some reason. Many of them are quiet at idle and at low RPM's around town. Mine on the other hand sounds like a garbage truck. It is always roaring at low RPM's and the rad fa...

Thanks for the advice guys. Replaced the canister vent valve, and the code finally went away. Getting the vent valve solenoid replaced was a PITA however. The bolts that keep the canister up in the frame siezed and broke when I attempted to take down the canister; so I had to end up using zipties to...

Well with this extreme cold weather the noise has gotten extremely bad. I changed the end links and front stabilizer bushings, and that didn't cure the issue. Mechanic says it can be the upper and/or lower ball joints, as well as the tie rod ends. Even then he says it may be something else. Not sure...

Has anyone had any luck with any particular aftermarket clutch? I was hoping to buy a $50-70 aftermarket clutch in lieu of the OEM 21082-EA200 $200 piece.
