Re: No Start - Fuel rail

Took off the fuel line, fuel didnt look too bad. Listened to each side of the fuel rail with a stethoscope, the odd side sounded like regular running water, the even side sounded like a jet engine. Air was mixing somewhere, so i popped off the upper plenum. The injector insulators were caved in at p...

Re: Advice Needed

I knew it was a long shot, especially when I mentioned the ECU.

I can’t believe that little piece of plastic only covered the ignition pins... everything else was fine. Even continuity tests from connectors thru harness.

It’s the little stuff that’ll getcha

Re: Flat Spotted my Crank pulley

The best tool I’ve found is the “harmonic balancer” pulley removal tool. Three prongs on one side, and then a single on the other. It can be found at most auto stores as a loaner. Best crank pulley tool I’ve seen universally. If you can, go to pick n pull with that tool set and a 27mm impact and pul...

Re: Advice Needed

Update: turns out somehow someway a piece of plastic got into the ECU pins. Luckily standing there scratching my head for a long time and tracing wires kept me coming back to the ECU

No Start - Fuel rail

So my pathfinder will crank but won’t fire. Hearing a low grumble like it barely wants to wake up. Starter fluid barely helps. I was looking around, and felt the fuel lines. The odd cylinder side was hard, but the even cylinders had a soft fuel line. I am thinking the vacuum lines for the regulator ...

Advice Needed

So I took my pathy apart, overhauled it while doing the timing/water pump at 200,000miles. Did the knock sensor, replaced all the tubing both pcv and heater hoses. Replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the MAF, intake, and throttle body. Probably did more I can't rememeber. Replaced fuel filter and pump...

I had fixed a coolant leak earlier. But then I saw that more coolant was leaking after I had stopped the vehicle. Seemed like the coolant leak was cuz of the water pump going bad. It was about that time for the timing belt anyways, so I decided to bite the bullet. On teardown saw that the thermostat...

Chemical Coolant System Cleaning

Does anyone have experience power flushing their coolant system? I'm talking the soap & water flush, then sulfamic acid & flush, then oxalic acid & flush, then baking soda to neutralize, then distilled H20 flush. Bypass the heater core, remove the thermostat, anything I'm missing? Maybe ...

Front Axle/Timing Belt Question

In the URL are pictures of my 98 Pathfinder's Front Axle. I can't seem to find the part circled on the Nissan parts website that has blowout's of every part imaginable. I'm doing the timing belt and was wondering what else I should do while I'm in there. Do you see anything else I should address? Th...

I got my 1998 Pathfinder from an auto wrecker. They said the reverse went out, only codes were for the 02 sensors. It would start, run, shift normally into the gears except for reverse. It would stall almost immediately. Looked up just about every possible cause. Turns out, it was the upstream 02 se...
