Re: Replacement Engine

I was able to find a thread that has the answer. As posted by an Admin in another thread smj999smj » Tue Aug 18, 2020 6:22 pm Yes, if you find a VQ40DE from a Frontier it will bolt right in! They are all the same and you can find them in: NISSAN FRONTIER 2005-2019 NISSAN NV1500 2012-2018 NISSAN NV25...

Replacement Engine

The 197k engine in my 2005 is done for. It eats coolant and oil in large amounts. I read on another thread that I can use any VQ40DE engine from 2005 to 2019 I have found a 2018 replacement engine I just want to confirm with someone who knows about these engines. If I get the 18 will it be a drop in...

I made some progress today. I ran a hose from the Nipple on the split to the rear heater core and let that run into the reservoir for a while while revving the engine. I then capped it off and then started slowly adding coolant onto the rexivor. it would bubble a little every so often then the level...

I'd bet it's a blend door actuator.

I'm having issues with no heat or A/C on the drivers side and that's what is wrong with mine.

Yes the A/C works great, no issues.

Well heck. I sure hope that is not the case. My temp needle does not go to the middle, it hangs pretty low. I found changing that thermostat to be quite a PITA, took me way longer than I thought it should. My next step will be to use my IR thermometer and get some temp readings around the engine com...

I also forgot to mention that I also bled the system by putting a hose on the nipple on the heater hose junction on the passenger side and running the hose into the coolant reservoir while letting the truck run for a while.

Thank you for the info. That all makes sense. I was hopeful that I could swap in a newer motor cheaply but it is what it is. I will figure out what I am going to do and come back here. Would love to know if the 3.5 from a Maxima will work. I can buy a wrecked Maxima for $500 After selling a couple o...

I can buy a wrecked Maxima for $500

After selling a couple of parts and scrapping the rest the engine will be free.

I would like that as it fits my budget very well. :)

Motor swap 3.5?

The engine in my 2006 is on it's way out.

Burns oil

no oil pressure at idle

Wondering if I swap in the more common 3.5 from a Maxima or 350 would it work fine?

Any real differences?

Would the Pathfinder ECU be ok with it?

Anyone done this yet?

It was def leaking from that connector. It dripped steady even with the engine off. I took it off, ditched the thin metal gasket, put a thin layer of Ultra Black on it. Put it back together and filled it back up. Wife drove it around today and it hasn't leaked a drop. Next onto the valve cover gaske...
